Founding

The Alabama State Legislature authorized H. Councill Trenholm State Technical College in May 1963, and classes began in August 1966 with the City of Montgomery and the Montgomery County Board of Revenue contributing to construction. The college is named for Harper Councill Trenholm, a former president of Alabama State University, and became H. Councill Trenholm State Community College in May 2015.
