Founding
Southwestern Christian College began in the fall of 1948 in Fort Worth, Texas, as the Southern Bible Institute, with about forty-five students and George P. Bowser playing a significant role. In the summer of 1949 its trustees bought the former Texas Military College property in Terrell and began operation there that fall.
